Varaporn Chamsanit is currently the Acting Director at the Center for Human Rights Studies and Social Development at Mahidol University in Thailand. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the Australia National University, and her research interests include Gender, Sexuality and Human Rights; Culture, Religion and Human Rights; Human Rights Theory. She has most recently been engaged in research on topics such as the promotion and protection of the rights of women and children with the ASEAN Commission, and the study of sexuality in Thailand. Varaporn will bring her expertise on the topics of gender, religion and cultural rights, and specifically in the context of Thailand.
