David Streckfuss is the Director of CIEE-Thailand (Council on International Educational Exchange) Program at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. He is also a founding member and advisor to the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Network of Thailand. David received his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian History from the University of Wisconsin, where he completed a doctoral dissertation entitled The Poetics of Subversion: Civil Liberty and Lèse-Majesté in the Modern Thai State. His recent book Truth on Trial in Thailand: Defamation, Treason, and Lèse-Majesté was published by Routledge in 2010.
